“Luck is preparation meets opportunity.” Through a series of small world moments, Emily and I joined John and his church group to go for our first summit of Mount Rainier!
After another ski touring trip, this time to the Colchuck Glacier, it was time for a much needed “rest”. Jesse, Will, Ryan, and I head towards Sequim and the Olympic Peninsula Coast to camp on the beach at Ozette.
Fully hooked on backcountry skiing, Pat, Micah, Derek, and I went far south to day tour up Mount Adams and ski the 4000’ of fresh corn known as the Southwest Chutes.
After realizing (via a really helpful REI employee) that my ski touring boots were absolute rubbish and old, I snagged a new pair of boots and aimed my sights at a previously elusive destination: Camp Muir.
In 2017, I found a crazy good deal on a set of randonnée skis. Now, 2018 marks the year I finally get to start ski touring. What better way to start than revisiting old summits and skiing them?
With my friend Amy back in town from San Francisco, we head towards the North Cascades to overnight at Hidden Lake Lookout.
With a few free weekends in September, I hit the road with Emily and Madolyn to cross off a few day hikes on the list: Mount Defiance and Mount Dickerman.
With a free weekend between all of us, Madolyn, Brian, and I head south to summit Mount Adams.
It was Madolyn's birthday last week, so naturally, we all celebrated with a 3-4 day trip through the Enchantments Core.
After photographing a wedding on Saturday, Jeff and I took off and crossed a hike off our list: Mount Pilchuck.
After eyeing Mount Saint Helens for some time now, Madolyn and I snagged second-hand permits and were off for a weekday summit.
Jeff had never backpacked before and wanted to explore the Olympic Peninsula. So, one weekend, we packed our bags and headed towards the Bainbridge Ferry for a few days roaming the Olympics.
With two weeks left before I left for New Zealand, my friend Emily and I decide to take a trip to California and explore Yosemite National Park.
